Talicious – Zeig her dein Talent!

May 27, 2007 by johnmclougan

Talicious is a site that allows people to get “discovered.” People post their talent, it gets categorized and indexed, and then the public rates them. The higher the rating, the higher their video goes on the chart. It is a pretty simple idea and easy to implement. I admit, my first thought was that it reminded me of “The Gong Show,” but really that just ages me. Obviously, there is a market for “talent” out there because there is a popular TV show with this exact premise. And thus it seems plausible that the idea of finding talent can be tranferred online in some way. On the other hand, the site had minimal talent content and little traffic, so either it is just getting known or is not what the “scouts” are looking for right now.

In their own words:
TALICIOUS is a talent community website that allows talented people to share their talents, communicate with other interesting people and be discovered by scouts or agencies who can easily search the site.
TALICIOUS was born out of the idea to give talented people the chance to show the world their talents and if they want to, be discovered. We have tried to make this as easy as possible; both for the talents to upload their profile and for their friends, family and people with the same interest as well as scouts to find them.
Basically, TALICIOUS is a community for talented people and those that work with them.
Anyone who has a talent can upload a media (videos, pictures, audio files or word documents) to show his or her talent. Talents are grouped in different categories so that they are easily searchable and can then be rated by users. The average rating determines the talent’s position in the category.

The focus of the site are the talents. We aim to have only original talent media from people who would like to show their talents to the world, and for everybody to be able to rank and discuss those talents, related news, gossip, locations, equipment or anything else. Like music charts, talents will move up and down the ranking which is determined by our users.
There are other great websites where you can up-load your media, but because we are focused purely on Talented people, you have a much better chance of being seen and maybe even ‘discovered’.

In which ever way you use TALICIOUS, we wish you a lot of fun and success.

Why this site might be a killer:
It seems like an innovative and potentially successful way for people to match talent and opportunities. The site is well-designed and easy to use.

Some questions:
Why aren’t people using the site to post themselves and their talent? Is there a market for matching talent with talent scouts? How are they planning on making a profit?

Talicious – gives talented people an opportunity to showcase their talents

imoTalent is like a floodlight which makes things clearer only when you hold it in the right direction. Proper exposure and publicity turns a talent into a star. Only you need the exact channel that would share your talent and communicate it in an interesting way with the world. So start looking out for an agent. No. Just click onto talicious.com and find a place to showcase your talent and skills. A talent website born out of the idea to give talented people an opportunity to showcase their talents and get discovered by the right person, talicious.com is the right place to be.

So now on can upload their profile as well as for their friends and family members andioun scouts can find them. These profiles are uploaded categorically based on the field the talent is. Any person who is talented can upload a media file like an audio scratch, video scratch, picture album, or word document that would display his/her talent in the particular group or category. Agents or scouts can perform a search and then find the required talent in that particular group or category.

The talents are viewed and then rated by the users. The ranks go up according to the ratings. So whenever anyone looks up for you, they know whether the person is good or not based on the performance as well as the numbers of ratings and rankings they have got. Here they only vouch to keep original talents from people who would like have an outlet. The rating system also makes it easier for people to know which a better one is through ranking which keeps gong up and down like music charts.

It is very seldom that you get a chance to show how capable youtred are to the world without someone backing you. Lobbying is at its peak when it comes to entertainment industry. Talicious comes across as a source that will not only help you lobby your own talent and flair but also help you showcase it in front of the world.

The categories at talicious.com consist of art, dance design, fashion, literature, modeling, music, photography, screen media, sports and tuning. These categories are further subdivided into groups which go into details of every category. To tell you something frankly and upfront, it is a very smart way to promote your talent and let the world know how capable you are.

What makes a startup successful?

By Amazing Startups | May 23, 2007

It would take me at least 10 hours to answer this question, but there are 5 things that seem to be absolutely essential:

1. a good startup is a completely new project or a good adaptation of an old idea.

This is what I mean. If you invented yahoo you would be really happy to see so many people talk about it. If you are not that creative why not creating a search engine in Luxemburg. It is going to be a copy, but I can tell you for sure that you will not find many competitors.

2. an excellent startup is able to create or find a niche.

This advice is really self explanatory. I would only add one more thing. Try to avoid high barriers of entry. If you have only 10 bucks to invest don’t try to produce cars. Do you see my points? -)

3. a startup should be useful

Well, useful is a BIG word… let’s say addictive… do you know Twitter…? That’s the point. Something really simple and to many extents useless has attracted millions of people.

4. a startup can be controversial.

Controversy is a good way of getting free media coverage. Even if someone will disapprove, you will still get more media coverage than normally.

5. success can be random.

Maybe, not exactly random, but it goes without saying that you need to be lucky from time to time. I have heard of search engines coming up before google arrived, but it was google to be noticed and discussed in every place in the world.

Traduwiki.org – the easiest way to translate those hundreds of good article and reviews

By Amazing Startups | May 22, 2007

Your grandmother might have narrated thousands of stories that would have covered hundreds of miles and reached your bed from distant lands. But all those stories might have known only one language. It was easy for your grandmother to translate them because she knew the language of love but it is not for you unless you have Traduwiki.org at your desktop. Yes Traduwiki is the easiest way to translate those hundreds of good article and reviews that float on the internet but can not be read by many because of the language barrier.

Born out of frustration if some people who could not read a text that was available in only one language, Traduwiki believes on the significance of user content. With loads of translation softwares available, it is often observed that these ones not give an accurate translation of the meaning. Which is why this site gives you the opportunity of not only go through good texts from different regions but also makes you a part of the booming world of literature. User interface is an integral part of technological revolution and Traduwiki banks on it.  Best on human knowledge, these guys reache the best in quality.

From Magazine stories to academic textbooks, essays, poetry, novels, technical papers and more, every document gets a translation here so that you can read whatever you want to I which ever language. So you easily stick onto the principles that ease the spread of culture and knowledge on the Internet. According to me books, in fact any kind of literature can only fill in knowledge brimming it with information and enlightenment. And with writings that would measure the length and breadth of the earth in your own language and many more languages, a person can only be benefited and nothing else.

The functioning of Traduwiki is simple and self explanatory. You have text chunks which are kept small to let you contribute at your level. One can opt for easy-to-translate text chunks which would give you a hang of how to translate. When you start feeling confidence, then you could try and translate text chunks that are harder to understand. This ways text would be translated in the purest of language forms by the people. Hence Traduwiki keeps the story of the German king who falls in love with n Indian princess the way it has been written in German by the legends without ruining the essence of it.
